Fix Ram 1500 / 2500 Leaf Spring Squeak – Fast DIY Rear Suspension Noise Repair
If your Ram 1500 or Ram 2500 has a loud squeak coming from the rear suspension—especially at low speeds, over bumps, or when pulling into driveways—you’re definitely not alone. Ram trucks are known for rear leaf spring squeaks, and the good news is you can fix it in minutes without grease, shop fees, or replacing parts.
The Spring-Things® Kit eliminates Ram leaf spring squeaks fast using a simple, proven DIY method trusted by truck owners nationwide.
⭐ Common Ram Squeak Symptoms
Ram truck owners typically report:
- Squeaking or chirping from the rear suspension
- Noise when turning or entering driveways
- Chirping sound at low speeds or when coasting
- Squeaking when hitting small bumps or rough roads
- Noise caused by leaf springs rubbing together
- Squeak that gets worse when the truck bed is empty
If your Ram squeaks when rocked side-to-side or when stepping on the rear bumper, the leaf springs are almost always the cause.
🔍 Why Ram Leaf Springs Squeak
Ram 1500 and 2500 leaf springs squeak because:
- The leaves inside the spring pack rub directly against each other
- Dirt, dust, and road debris build up between the leaves
- Factory pads and shims wear out over time
- Temperature changes cause expansion and friction
- Normal driving changes bolt torque and compression on the pack
Shops often suggest lubrication (a temporary fix), spring replacement (expensive), or simply “living with it.”
You don’t have to.
The fix is simple—and proven.

The Spring-Things® Squeak Eliminator Kit fits most 2.5" rear leaf springs on many Ram 1500 and 2500 trucks.

- Creates a small gap so the leaves stop rubbing together
- Eliminates friction—the main cause of squeaking
- Works without grease, sprays, or messy temporary fixes
- Long-lasting solution compared to lubrication
- Keeps your factory leaf springs and hardware intact
If your Ram uses 2.5" wide rear leaf springs, the kit is designed to work.

📝 FAQ
Will this fix the squeak when backing up or turning?
Yes. Those noises come from leaf springs shifting and rubbing—this stops it.
Does anything get replaced?
No. The kit installs onto your existing leaf springs.
Does it work on lifted Ram trucks?
Yes, as long as the truck still uses 2.5" wide rear leaf springs.
Is it affected by temperature?
No. Hot, cold, water, mud, or snow won’t undo the fix.
Received the unit for my 2024 Chevy 3500HD which was making a grunt/grind noise as the body rocked side to side going slow. The dealer replaced the plastic pad between the spring which cured the issue for about a week, this told me that was the issue. Took me about 45 minutes to install without removing the wheels, most of this was setup and take down time. I found that 2 large flat blade screwdrivers worked well, pry up with one, slide the second in to hold the spring up, cleaned between the springs then installed, really easy, then reverse the process to remove the screw drivers. I knew as soon as I moved the truck this resolved the issue. I have driven the vehicle now for about a week and still quiet. The issue annoys the heck out of me, this product took care of the problem. I contacted the dealer to let them know the GM fix worked temporarily but the issue returned, let them if others have the same issue, here is the fix. Highly recommend this product if you have this issue.
