This installation video shows how Spring-Things pads are positioned between compatible rear leaf springs to help reduce squeaks, chirps, pops, clunks, and banging caused by movement within the spring pack.

Most installations can be completed in approximately 15–30 minutes using basic hand tools, a floor jack, and properly rated jack stands.

TorqueNews Covers Silverado Rear Leaf Spring Noise

“My Chevy Silverado Had Annoying Clunk/Squeak in the Rear; Dealer Said to Tighten U-Bolts — Didn’t Work… So I Did This Instead.”

The TorqueNews article discusses a common problem reported by Chevrolet Silverado owners: clunking and squeaking from the rear suspension that may continue even after common recommendations such as tightening U-bolts or lubricating suspension components.

Spring-Things was created specifically to address noises caused by movement and contact between the individual leaves in an otherwise serviceable rear leaf spring pack. The pads create a durable barrier at the spring contact points instead of relying on repeated grease applications.

How Spring-Things Works

Traditional rear leaf spring packs contain several steel leaves stacked together. As the suspension compresses, rebounds, and shifts under changing loads, those leaves can move against one another.

When that movement creates unwanted noise, Spring-Things pads can be installed at compatible contact points to help reduce direct leaf-to-leaf friction and impact.

  • Designed for squeaks, chirps, creaks, pops, and clunks caused by leaf-to-leaf contact
  • Typical installation takes approximately 15–30 minutes
  • No drilling, welding, or removal of the complete spring pack
  • No wheel removal in most installations
  • No repeated grease or spray-lubricant application
  • Installs on compatible traditional rear leaf spring packs

Confirm Fitment and Diagnose the Noise First

Spring-Things universal kits are designed for many trucks with rear leaf springs measuring approximately 2.5 inches wide, but spring width alone does not guarantee compatibility. The spring-pack layout must also provide suitable installation points.

The kit will not repair noises caused by axle endplay, worn bushings, shackle binding, loose hardware, damaged springs, shocks, exhaust contact, drivetrain backlash, or unrelated mechanical problems.

I have a 2019 F150 crew cab and clinking/popping sound coming from the leaf springs. I tried a couple things. New isolator pads that took care of the noise for about a month then the noise came back. Tried high quality grease like the Ford forums suggested but that did work and only created a trap for more dirt to collect as I live down a gravel road. Came across these pads that were mentioned in another Ford forum and said to myself that there's no way these will fix the problem. But after less then 20 minutes to install and driving for about 3 weeks the clunking and popping sound that I heard from the rear leaf springs when backing in he driveway or pulling onto uneven grade is completely gone and hope it continues. I can Tell everyone that so far this product works.

Thank you for sharing all of those details, Joseph! Leaf spring clunking and popping can be incredibly frustrating, especially after trying replacement isolators and grease with only temporary results. We’re really glad the Spring-Things kit was easy to install and has kept your F-150 quiet so far. We appreciate you giving our product a chance and taking the time to help other truck owners with such a thorough review!

Did not work to quiet my 24 ZR2 unfortunately.

We’re sorry to hear the kit didn’t solve the noise on your 2024 ZR2, Gillian. In some cases, the sound can come from another suspension component or a different contact point in the leaf spring assembly. Please feel free to contact us so we can help check the installation and see whether there may be another cause.

Come on Chevy, you've got to do better!

Thank you, Gregory! We’re glad the Spring-Things kit got rid of that annoying clunk on your new Silverado. It’s definitely not a sound anyone expects from a brand-new truck! We really appreciate your review and support.
