Install Instructions

Spring-Things Installation

These instructions show a real-world install on a typical truck (not a showroom-clean frame). Installation does not require suspension disassembly and no alignment is required.

Estimated install time: 15–30 minutes for most users (first-time DIYers may take a little longer).

Tools Required

  • Floor jack
  • Jack stand
  • Wheel chocks
  • Flat screwdriver or small pry bar
  • Side cutters (for trimming zip ties)

Safety note: Always follow basic safety precautions when working under a vehicle.

Step 1 – Prepare the Vehicle

Park on level ground, set the parking brake, and place wheel chocks in front of and behind the front tires to prevent movement.

Jack up the left rear of the vehicle by the frame rail until the rear tire is just slightly off the ground.

Step 2 – Support the Vehicle (IMPORTANT)

Place a jack stand under the frame rail for safety.

IMPORTANT: The vehicle must be lifted by the frame, not the axle. Lifting by the frame allows the rear suspension to decompress so the leaf springs can be separated properly. If lifted by the axle, the weight remains on the springs and they cannot be spread apart correctly.

Step 3 – Prepare the Spring-Thing

Insert the supplied heavy-duty zip tie through the holes in the Spring-Thing pad before installation.

Step 4 – Create Space Between Leaf Springs

Carefully wedge a flat screwdriver or small pry bar between the leaf springs just enough to create a small gap.

Step 5 – Install the Spring-Thing (IMPORTANT)

Place the pad between the leaf springs, ensuring it sits flat and properly aligned.

Pull the zip tie ONLY until snug.

DO NOT over-tighten the zip tie. The pad must be able to move slightly with suspension travel. The factory spring clamp holds one side in position; the zip tie is for alignment only, not clamping force.

  • ✅ Correct: Pad can be shifted slightly by hand
  • ❌ Incorrect: Pad is clamped tightly and cannot move

Step 6 – Repeat on Opposite Side

Repeat Steps 2–5 on the opposite rear leaf spring. Remove the jack stand and lower the vehicle.

Installation Complete

You’re now finished — squeak free.

  • No alignment required
  • No suspension disassembly
  • Install time: ~15–30 minutes

Thank you for choosing Spring-Things.

I have a 2025, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Custom with 3,500 miles that starting having loud noise in rear end while making slow turns and going over uneven terrain on road, driveway, etc. At times the noise sounded like the entire truck bed was loose. The dealership didn’t see any issues. I decided to give these a try after reading other customer’s reviews and glad that I did! The loud clunking noise is gone! Thank you Spring-Things! Easy install!

Thank you Adam! We really appreciate the detailed review. Those rear-end noises on newer trucks can be incredibly frustrating, especially when the dealership can’t pinpoint the issue. Glad the Spring-Things kit helped quiet things down and made your truck feel solid again. Thanks for giving us a try and for sharing your experience!

Easy to install. Used a small pry bar instead of a screwdriver. seems really good so far.

Thanks for the review! Glad the install went smoothly and the squeak is gone. Good tip on using a small pry bar as well — we appreciate the feedback and hope the kit keeps your Silverado quiet for a long time!

Very satisfied, after install no more noise from springs. The OEM pads were worn down to 1/16" thick, lol.

Thanks Scott! Glad to hear the Spring-Things kit got rid of the noise. Sounds like those OEM pads were definitely past their prime 😅 We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and share your experience!

Amazing!! Had the axle “clunk” in my brand new 2024 Silverado LTZ. Followed the TSB of re-torquing the U Bolts. Clunk was still there. I found SpringThings by a google search and gave it a shot versus replacing the OEM plastic pads. After I put in the Springthings, which were incredibly easy to install and fit perfectly, the noise went away!!! 10/10 thank you for the practical, creative, and affordable solution to a very common problem!!!

Hi Byron,
Thank you so much for the 5-star review! I'm really glad the Spring-Things kit solved that annoying clunk on your new 2024 Silverado — especially after the TSB didn't fix it.
Happy to hear the install was easy and the noise is completely gone. Reviews like yours make my day!
