FAQ

Spring Thing FAQ

What does Spring Thing fix?

Spring Thing is designed to reduce or eliminate the clunking, banging, squeaking, tapping, and popping noises that come from the rear leaf springs on many trucks. These noises happen when the leaf springs compress and rebound, especially during acceleration, braking, or hitting bumps. Spring Thing adds a durable cushion that absorbs this movement and greatly reduces the noise.

Will Spring Thing fit my truck?

Spring Thing fits any truck with rear leaf springs that are 2.5 inches wide or wider. This includes most modern half-ton and three-quarter-ton trucks from the 1990s to today.

Compatible with most models of:

  • Chevrolet Silverado / GMC Sierra (1500/2500/3500)
  • Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon
  • Ford F-150, F-250, F-350
  • Ram 1500 / 2500 / 3500
  • Toyota Tacoma (all years)
  • Toyota Tundra (all years)
  • Nissan Frontier
  • Nissan Titan

If your truck has leaf springs that are at least 2.5" wide, Spring Thing is very likely to fit.

How many kits do I need for one truck?

Just one kit per truck. A single kit includes everything needed for a complete install on both sides of the rear leaf springs.

Is Spring Thing DIY-friendly?

Yes! Spring Thing is designed for easy, do-it-yourself installation. You do not need to remove the leaf pack. Anyone with basic tools can install it.

What tools do I need?

You’ll need a few basic items for a safe and simple installation:

  • Jack (to slightly lift the rear end for clearance)
  • Jack stand (for safety β€” never rely on a jack alone)
  • Flathead screwdriver or pry bar (to gently open leaf spring gaps if needed)
  • Work gloves (recommended)

No specialty suspension tools or lifts are required.

How long does installation take?

Most customers install Spring Thing in 10–20 minutes. First-timers may take slightly longer, but the process is very beginner-friendly.

Will Spring Thing affect towing or hauling?

No. Spring Thing does not interfere with towing, payload capacity, or suspension geometry. It simply adds cushioning between the leaf springs.

Will this affect my truck’s warranty?

No. Spring Thing does not replace or modify factory components. It will not void your warranty.

How long does Spring Thing last?

Spring Thing is made from a durable, automotive-grade rubber designed to withstand heat, cold, moisture, and road debris. Lifespan varies based on truck weight, driving style, climate, and spring condition.

Some customers get very long life out of their kits, while others experience shorter life due to harsher use conditions. Because every truck and environment is different, lifespan cannot be guaranteed.

Does Spring Thing stop the noise completely?

Most customers report a significant reduction in clunks, squeaks, or banging β€” often 90–100%. In many cases, the noise disappears completely. Results depend on overall suspension condition.

How fast do you ship?

All orders ship via USPS Priority Mail. Delivery is usually 2–3 days anywhere in the U.S.

Most orders ship the same day or the next business day after being placed.

Where do you ship from?

All Spring Thing orders ship from the USA.

Received the unit for my 2024 Chevy 3500HD which was making a grunt/grind noise as the body rocked side to side going slow. The dealer replaced the plastic pad between the spring which cured the issue for about a week, this told me that was the issue. Took me about 45 minutes to install without removing the wheels, most of this was setup and take down time. I found that 2 large flat blade screwdrivers worked well, pry up with one, slide the second in to hold the spring up, cleaned between the springs then installed, really easy, then reverse the process to remove the screw drivers. I knew as soon as I moved the truck this resolved the issue. I have driven the vehicle now for about a week and still quiet. The issue annoys the heck out of me, this product took care of the problem. I contacted the dealer to let them know the GM fix worked temporarily but the issue returned, let them if others have the same issue, here is the fix. Highly recommend this product if you have this issue.

Thank you, Gary! We appreciate your detailed review and are glad to hear the Spring-Thing kit resolved the spring noise issue on your 2024 Chevy 3500HD. Thank you for sharing your installation experience and tips for other customers. We truly appreciate your support and your recommendation!

I have a 2025, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Custom with 3,500 miles that starting having loud noise in rear end while making slow turns and going over uneven terrain on road, driveway, etc. At times the noise sounded like the entire truck bed was loose. The dealership didn’t see any issues. I decided to give these a try after reading other customer’s reviews and glad that I did! The loud clunking noise is gone! Thank you Spring-Things! Easy install!

Thank you Adam! We really appreciate the detailed review. Those rear-end noises on newer trucks can be incredibly frustrating, especially when the dealership can’t pinpoint the issue. Glad the Spring-Things kit helped quiet things down and made your truck feel solid again. Thanks for giving us a try and for sharing your experience!
