Fix Colorado / Canyon Leaf Spring Squeak – Fast DIY Noise Repair

If your Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon has an annoying leaf spring squeak — especially when driving slowly, going over bumps, or backing out of a driveway — you’re not alone. These mid-size trucks are well-known for rear suspension squeaks, and the good news is: you can fix it in minutes without grease, shop fees, or replacing parts.

The Spring-Things® Kit eliminates Colorado/Canyon leaf spring squeaks fast using a simple, proven DIY solution trusted by truck owners across the U.S.

⭐ Common Colorado & Canyon Squeak Symptoms

Owners usually report:

  • Squeaking from the rear suspension
  • Chirping noise at low speeds
  • Squeaking when entering or exiting driveways
  • Noise when hitting small bumps or uneven pavement
  • Leaf springs rubbing together when the truck flexes
  • Squeak worse when the truck bed is empty

If your Colorado or Canyon squeaks when you rock the truck side to side, the leaf springs are almost always the cause.

🔍 Why Colorado & Canyon Leaf Springs Squeak

These trucks commonly squeak because:

  • The leaves in the spring pack rub metal-to-metal
  • Dirt & debris settle between the spring leaves
  • Factory shims dry out or wear over time
  • Changes in temperature cause expansion and friction
  • Rear spring bolt torque changes with age

Dealerships usually suggest lubrication (temporary), replacing parts (expensive), or just “living with it.”
You don’t have to.

🛠 The Best DIY Fix for Colorado / Canyon Leaf Spring Squeak

The Spring-Things® Squeak Eliminator Kit is designed to fit most 2.5-inch leaf springs found on Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks across multiple generations.

Why it works:

  • Separates the leaf springs slightly
  • Eliminates friction between the spring leaves
  • Stops metal-on-metal contact
  • Works without grease, sprays, or messy chemicals
  • Lasts far longer than lubrication

One kit fits most Colorado & Canyon trucks using 2.5" wide leaf springs.

📝 FAQ

Will this fix the squeak when backing up or turning?
Yes. Those noises are caused by the leaf springs shifting and rubbing — this stops it.

Does anything need to be replaced?
No. The kit installs onto your existing leaf springs.

Will it work on lifted trucks?
Yes, as long as they still use 2.5" leaf springs.

Does temperature affect it?
No. Hot, cold, rain, snow, or road grime will not undo the fix.

Received the unit for my 2024 Chevy 3500HD which was making a grunt/grind noise as the body rocked side to side going slow. The dealer replaced the plastic pad between the spring which cured the issue for about a week, this told me that was the issue. Took me about 45 minutes to install without removing the wheels, most of this was setup and take down time. I found that 2 large flat blade screwdrivers worked well, pry up with one, slide the second in to hold the spring up, cleaned between the springs then installed, really easy, then reverse the process to remove the screw drivers. I knew as soon as I moved the truck this resolved the issue. I have driven the vehicle now for about a week and still quiet. The issue annoys the heck out of me, this product took care of the problem. I contacted the dealer to let them know the GM fix worked temporarily but the issue returned, let them if others have the same issue, here is the fix. Highly recommend this product if you have this issue.

I have a 2025, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Custom with 3,500 miles that starting having loud noise in rear end while making slow turns and going over uneven terrain on road, driveway, etc. At times the noise sounded like the entire truck bed was loose. The dealership didn’t see any issues. I decided to give these a try after reading other customer’s reviews and glad that I did! The loud clunking noise is gone! Thank you Spring-Things! Easy install!

Thank you Adam! We really appreciate the detailed review. Those rear-end noises on newer trucks can be incredibly frustrating, especially when the dealership can’t pinpoint the issue.
